Alex Telles sends Manchester United fans message over absence

Alex Telles has assured Manchester United fans that he is feeling fine despite testing positive for coronavirus.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed Telles had missed the Chelsea and RB Leipzig games, after making his United debut in the 2-1 win at Paris Saint-Germain, because the Brazilian had come down with the virus.

"Yeah he's been out now for a little while because he has tested positive for coronavirus," Solskjaer told MUTV when asked about the absence. "No symptoms, he's fine and we can't wait to have him back."

Telles' transfer to United was confirmed on deadline day after impressing for a number of seasons with Porto and after a positive debut against PSG, hopes are high for the 27-year-old at Old Trafford.

His spell out of action comes as a blow after an encouraging start, but Telles has taken to Instagram to update supporters on his health as he self-isolates away from the United squad.

He said: "Guys, I want to thank you for the messages of affection that I received from the moment that United announced that I have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

"I want to say that I am fine, isolated and soon I will be back with all my strength to help my teammates. Once again, thank you all for your lovely messages!"

Luke Shaw performed well in the United games against Chelsea and Leipzig though Telles will hope to return in a week or two to challenge the England international for the left-back slot in Solskjaer's team.
