Manchester United full-back Alex Telles has credited Bruno Fernandes as the brains behind his first goal for the club in the win over Villarreal.
The Portuguese defender arrowed a left-footed volley into the bottom corner against the Yellow Submarine and provided an avenue back into the game for the Reds after Paco Alcacer opened the scoring for the visitors.
Cristiano Ronaldo won it for United late on, firing beyond Geronimo Rulli to secure all three points in the group stage fixture.
The 36-year-old went on to score in the other three Champions League matches that he featured in as his quality and experience proved indispensable during their quest for the top of Group F. His opening goal against Emery's side in the reverse fixture at El Madrigal sent them on their way to topping the group as Jadon Sancho added gloss to the win in Spain.
But it was the corresponding fixture that saw Telles open his United account after Fernandes ' cute cross to the edge of the box from a corner.
The 28-year-old ran onto the pass and expertly picked out the corner at an important stage of the match, but he has made an admission over the goal.
"That was one of the most beautiful moments of my career, it's a moment I will never forget," he told United as part of their Diaries series.
"Firstly, because I was playing in a Champions League match for Manchester United and secondly scoring a goal in that context.
"We were behind, then we equalised, then turned the score around, it was a remarkable evening, an unforgettable evening.
"I share the merit of that goal with Bruno [Fernandes] because that pass was his idea. Obviously because of my hard work, confidence and skill that I know I have I was able to score that goal. I will never forget that moment.
"The main thing is making the fans happy, I will never forget how happy they were in the stadium that night."
