Alex Sutcliffe's Leeds Rhinos career finished after leaving in loan deal

Alex Sutcliffe's Leeds Rhinos career appears to be over after joining Featherstone Rovers on a season-long loan deal.

The youngster, who has agreed to sign for Castleford next season, has returned to the Championship club as they prepare a final push for Super League.

Sutcliffe is currently injured but is closing in on a return to fitness and will assist Fev in the season run-in when he's back to full fitness later this month.

The 22-year-old caught the eye during a previous spell with Featherstone in 2019 before emerging in the Leeds Rhinos side, eventually featuring in the Challenge Cup Final victory over Salford Red Devils last year.

But his time at Headingley now appears to have come to an end. Although Leeds have a recall option, it appears he has now played his last game for the club.

"Alex is an exceptional young player who will bring a great deal of quality to our squad," Featherstone Rovers general manager Ian Hardman.

"The fact that he has played at Featherstone previously and worked under our coaching staff will make for a smooth transition and his ability to operate as both a centre and back row is certainly something that will benefit us as we approach the business end of the season.

"I'd like to thank Richard Agar and Leeds Rhinos for allowing Alex to join us and I’m sure our supporters are looking forward to seeing Alex back in a Featherstone Shirt in the coming months.’’

Sutcliffe, who played nine times for Leeds last season, added: "I’m really excited to be coming back to Fev to hopefully get some game time under my belt and try my best to help Fev for a Super League spot next year."
