Alex Smith used his injured leg as a prop for an epic Halloween costume

Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith has not played since Week 11 of last season when he sustained compound and spiral fractures to his right tibia and fibula. The serious leg injury has put Smith’s career in serious jeopardy as he’s had 17 surgeries since the initial injury.

But you have to give Smith and his family from credit for their Halloween costumes. Even in what had to be an incredibly difficult 12 months for the Smith family, they still managed to have some fun with the injured leg.

Alex’s wife, Liz, shared the family’s Halloween get-up on Instagram this week, showing that the injured leg had been turned into a prop for a shark attack. All things considered, this costume was phenomenal.

Smith’s leg was getting chomped apart by a pair of Baby Sharks as his wife and daughter dressed as onlooking lifeguards. You could also see that Smith’s leg — beyond the fake blood — still appeared to be swollen. His recovery is very much still an ongoing process.

It was a complex Halloween effort, and it worked great.
