Day 3 of the Washington Redskins’ OTAs are rolling along, and a surprise visitor graced the sidelines on Thursday.
QB Alex Smith was in attendance, just a little over six months after a gruesome leg injury ended his 2018 season and put his career into question.
Smith has been on a long road to recovery and still has several months of work to do before he can even consider coming back to the playing field, but it was good to see a smile on his face as he laughed with teammates and threw a ball around.
With Dwayne Haskins engaging Case Keenum in a QB battle already, it will be crucial for Smith to hang around and be able to offer help to the two signal-callers looking to make their first appearance with a new team. Smith has a strong history of mentoring younger quarterbacks, as we saw in Kansas City, and his leadership skills could pay off in Washington as well.
