Alex Salmond's Alba Party manifesto launch marred by technical issues

Alex Salmond's Alba Party virtual manifesto launch has been marred by technical issues just 2 minutes 46 seconds into a near eight-minute speech.

The former First Minister was setting out his plans as he looks to create a "super-majority" for independence in the Scottish Parliament following the election on May 6.

As the ex-SNP leader was laying out his strategy for independence the YouTube and Facebook links froze with Salmond's mouth left open.

It's not the first time technology has dogged the Alba Party when streaming online events.

During the party's launch last month there were a number of problems with the sound, while at one point a campaign video stopped halfway through and started showing Salmond looking silently down the camera.

Viewers took to social media to express their frustrations at the live stream freezing.

Michelle Johnson said on Facebook: "Can't hear and it's frozen."

Ryan Allan Campbell wrote: "They really need some better tech people."

John Drennan commented: "Jeez you'd have thought they'd have run a rehearsal - kinda an important moment."

Roberto Rizzo said: "Need to get the media sorted, happening too often."

While, Ian Marshall wrote: "That was short and sweet."
