Nicola Sturgeon is due to give evidence under oath this morning to a committee of MSPs investigating the Scottish government’s botched inquiry into complaints made by two female civil servants against Alex Salmond.

The committee is made up of nine MSPs and has been conducting its inquiry in weekly sessions.

There are four SNP MSPs, two Conservatives, one Labour, one Lib Dem and one Independent.

She has been a Conservative regional MSP for Central Scotland since 2003. She worked as an political adviser before becoming an MSP and was a Brexit campaigner in 2016.

Alasdair Allan MSP

Allan has known Salmond for years, having worked in his office in the 1990s. The former SNP national secretary was elected to Holyrood as the MSP for the Western Isles in 2007 and has also been a Government Minister. Viewed as a steady hand by the party.

The acting leader of Scottish Labour, for another 24 hours, Baillie has been the backbone of the party operation in Holyrood. Baillie has the authority and grasp of detail to match the witnesses to the inquiry.

A relative newcomer to the parliament, he has been the Lib Dem MSP for Edinburgh Western since 2016. Tipped as a potential future leader of his party.

Murdo Fraser MSP

Murdo Fraser MSP (Perthshire Advertiser)

Fraser has served as deputy leader and lost out to Ruth Davidson in the leadership contest in 2011. A lawyer by profession he has been one of the most outspoken members of the committee on the delays facing the Inquiry in obtaining information. He has been robust in previous sessions.

Andy Wightman MSP

He was elected as a Green, but now sits as an Independent MSP. He was one of 5 members who voted against publication of one of Salmond's submissions over legal concerns. He is known for having an excellent grasp of detail.

Stuart McMillan MSP

An SNP MSP who has been in parliament since 2007 after a spell as a party worker. He came to the committee late after Angela Constance became a Minister.

Maureen Watt MSP

Watt has served as an MSP since 2006 and is also a former Minister. She is not contesting another election.
