Alex Salmond has failed to win a seat at the Scottish election with his new political party.
The Alba Party, launched six weeks ago at the start of the campaign, had hoped to create a 'super-majority' for independence in the Holyrood chamber.
The former First Minister's party failed to gain any seats in the North East Scotland despite putting up four candidates.
Yesterday, Salmond predicted he would "fall short" of winning a seat with his new party due to a number of factors including the short time from launching the party to polling day and the lack of TV coverage for Alba.
His party only managed to secure 8,269 votes in the North East regional list.
Salmond decided against turning up to the count at the P&J Live arena in Aberdeen on Saturday after previously attending on Friday.
Despite the high profile campaign Salmond failed to breakthrough in a region where he has served at Holyrood and at Westminister.
Speaking to the Daily Record at the count in Aberdeen on Friday, Salmond said the party was set up "too quick" and there was "a lot to do in a little bit of time".
Asked if he wanted to stay with the party going forward, Salmond said: "Well I'll decide that in the course of things.
"You don't take that sort of decision halfway through an election.
"Can I just say, over the last six weeks I have enjoyed myself enormously."
