New dad Alex Reid has shared the gorgeous meaning behind his baby girl’s precious name.
The doting dad, who welcomed his little one with fiancée Nikki Manashe last week, has detailed how the couple decided on their daughter’s name after their seven-year fertility battle.
The loved-up couple welcomed their baby girl with the help of IVF treatment after they discovered they were unable to conceive naturally a number of years ago.
Last year, Alex and Nikki shared that they were expecting twins following several IVF treatments but tragically, in December, Nikki miscarried one of the babies.
Seven months on, the pair are now proud parents to their little girl – who they named Anastasia Pixie Reid.
Nikki and Alex had three specific names in mind and each name had a precious meaning behind them.
All the names had a special relation to Nikki’s beloved mum, Anita Manashe, who tragically passed away in 2010 at the age of 52 when Nikki was just 24 years old.
Lifting the lid on her baby girl’s name, Nikki told OK! Magazine : “It means everything calling her a name close to my mum who passed away.
“My mum was my everything, losing a mum so young and not having her around, especially huge milestones in life has been unbelievably hard so I had to have my mum involved in the name.
"Anastasia also has Greek origins and Alex's full name is Alexander Aristides Reid because his mum loved Greek mythology. Anastasia shares the same initials as Alex so it's super special for us."
Opening up about her daughter’s special second name, the new mum added: "Pixie was a name we both loved, it’s cool and quirky but I still had my heart set on using my mums name so we settled on using it for a middle name."
If the couple had welcomed a baby boy, Nikki and Alex would have paid tribute to Alex’s late dad.
Nikki admitted that she ‘promised’ Celebrity Big Brother 2010 winner Alex that the name would reference his dad Bob if they had a boy after he passed away from a terminal illness back in 2015.
The proud mum took to Instagram on July 14 to share the joyful news that she and Alex had welcomed their healthy baby girl.
Alongside a precious picture of their little one, Nikki shared a heartwarming poem dedicated to her daughter.
The overjoyed new mum penned: "Welcome to the world little Miss Reid."
"I loved you from the very start. You stole my breath, embraced my heart. Our life together has just begun. You're part of me my little one.
“As mother with child, each day I grew. My mind has always been with thoughts of you. As you lay next to me, I dim the light, I whisper, 'I will always say I love you' every night.
"I loved you from the very start. You stole my breath, embraced my heart. As mother and child our journey has just begun, My heart's yours forever my perfect little one."
