Alex Petkov signs new Hearts contract until the end of next season

Alex Petkov has penned a one-year extension so his current Hearts deal and will remain at the club until the end of next season.

The Bulgarian has been a regular for the reserve side this season, and helped them win the inaugural SPFL Reserve Cup with a 2-0 win over Motherwell at Tynecastle.

The Bulgarian can operate either central midfield or central defence. The 19-year-old has been with Hearts since 2016 and attended Tynecastle High School before signing his first professional contract.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Berwick Rangers. He has made one first team appearance for Hearts to date, playing 45 minuutes in last season’s 3-0 Betfred Cup win over East Fife.

The club also confirmed that Under 18 midfielder Dino Leddie has left to join Swedish outfit Ytterhogal.
