Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wins England recall following injury nightmare

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has won an England recall.

Liverpool midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain has not played for England since March 2018 but has done enough to convince Gareth Southgate to put him back in the squad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 26, has won 32 caps but has endured an injury nightmare with a knee problem which kept him out for a year and also forced him to miss the World Cup in the summer of 2018.

England boss Southgate has unveiled his squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers with Bulgaria and Kosovo.

Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings has been called up while Harry Winks, James Maddison and Mason Mount are included.

But there is no place for Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.

That is the shock omission from Gareth Southgate’s 25 man squad for the double headers with Kosovo and Bulgaria.

Walker was a mainstay in the World Cup big the Manchester City defender was forced to play in a back three.

Now Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kieran Trippier and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all in but Walker misses out.

Southgate is expected to shake up the squad to make changes to herald in a new season.
