Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain shows off new look after losing bet to Jamie Carragher

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is sporting a cleanly-shaven look after losing a forfeit to Jamie Carragher in a Premier League-themed quiz.

Pride was not the only thing on the line as current Liverpool midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain took on Reds great Carragher after it was suggested that the loser had to shave off their beard.

And in a hard-fought contest on Sky Sports’ Premier League Big Quiz, former centre-back Carragher edged his rival to a 12-11 victory.

In a crunch question at the end of the quiz, Carragher took the bragging rights after being asked, “who were the first team to beat Liverpool after you retired?”

The Sky Sports pundit showed great composure to recall the scoreline was a 1-0 loss and taunt his opponent by revealing that the player who scored is now a Liverpool player.

He then confirmed that the result was a home defeat to Southampton thanks to a Dejan Lovren goal from a set piece at the Anfield Road end - showing a remarkable memory.

Oxlade-Chamberlain despaired that Carragher had been at the game, saying: “Don’t rub it in. Trust you to be at the game, you’d just retired!

“You had a long and great career, just have a day off. You didn’t need to go to the game!”

However, the England midfielder has been true to his word and showed off his cleanly-shaven face - apart from his moustache - on Instagram on Saturday afternoon.

“Carra, the deed is done,” Oxlade-Chamberlain said. “Sideburns are looking shockingly bad. Didn’t want to go anywhere near them, was very scared.

“Trim is not helping anything. I've left the 'tache on for good measure, because why not?

"I'm looking like my dad back in the 80s. But a bet is a bet. Well played mate."
