Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sends Mohamed Salah message and explains why Liverpool team-mate doesn't always pass the ball

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has explained why Mohamed Salah isn't always inclined to pass to his Liverpool team-mates.

Salah faced accusations of being too selfish last month when he left Sadio Mane outraged during the 3-0 Premier League win at Burnley.

Mane was furious after being substituted during the closing stages, with it later emerging he was unhappy after fellow Liverpool forward Salah had failed to find him unmarked in the area just moments earlier.

Now Oxlade-Chamberlain, speaking to Football Focus, has addressed the issue.

When asked to finish the sentence "Mohamed Salah isn't selfish because...", Oxlade-Chamberlain joked: "Isn't selfish? Are you winding me up?

"The guy don't pass to us. Are you mad? Ask Sadio."

Oxlade-Chamberlain then added: "No, Mo Salah isn't selfish because he's a goalscorer. He's gotta do that.

"We can't expect him to pass us the ball all the time and him to score loads of goals. The way he plays wins us games, so he's got to do what he's got to do.

"He scores, we win the game. I'm happy. Mo, do what you want!"

Both Mane and Salah have scored four goals in five league games this season, with Salah totalling 75 goals in 112 Reds appearances so far.

Liverpool are aiming for a 15th successive Premier League win when they visit Chelsea on Sunday.
