Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returns but Roberto Firmino injured as Liverpool team confirmed for Huddersfield clash

Daniel Sturridge has been handed a rare start in Liverpool's Premier League clash with relegated Huddersfield Town at Anfield tonight.

The England striker, who is out of contract this summer, replaces Roberto Firmino, who is ruled out with a muscle strain.

It will be Sturridge's first league start since the win at Burnley back in December.

The only other change from the victory at Cardiff City last weekend sees Dejan Lovren replace Joel Matip at the back.

There is no place in the squad for Fabinho with Liverpool deciding to take no risks with the Brazilian ahead of next Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg with Barcelona. Fabinho was forced off due to a clash of heads after coming off the bench at Cardiff.

Roberto Firmino will miss Liverpool's clash with Huddersfield

However, there is the welcome sight of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain being named among the subs. It's the first time the £40million midfielder has made the matchday squad since he suffered a serious knee injury playing against Roma 367 days ago.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Keita, Mane, Salah, Sturridge.

Subs: Mignolet, Milner, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Origi, Matip.
