Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain makes amazing donation to Liverpool charity

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has made a generous £50,000 donation to Zoë's Place.

The ECHO understands that the 25-year-old was so touched by the work of the staff during a recent visit with the LFC Foundation to the baby hospice in West Derby that he wanted to provide some financial support.

It's a massive boost for the independent registered charity, which needs to raise £1.4million annually in order to stay open.

Zoë's Place provides palliative, respite and end of life care to babies and infants aged from birth to six years who suffer from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Oxlade-Chamberlain proved a big hit when he met families during his visit as he handed out special LFC gifts, posed for photos, signed autographs and played football with the youngsters.

The England international has supported a number of Merseyside charities since moving to Liverpool from Arsenal in the summer of 2017.

Last December he was accompanied by pop star girlfriend Perrie Edwards for a trip to Toxteth-based KIND, which has helped change the lives of thousands of disadvantaged children and their families.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's career is back on track after a year on the sidelines due to a serious knee injury.

He made his return to action when he came off the bench for the final 17 minutes of last week's 5-0 rout of Huddersfield Town.

Oxlade-Chamberlain didn't make the matchday squad for the midweek Champions League showdown with Barcelona.

But he's back in contention for Saturday's trip to Newcastle United.
