Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leads Liverpool pals and Premier League pair in LA workout

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has enlisted the help of celebrity trainer Nicky Holender as he steps up his fitness regime ahead of his first Liverpool pre-season.

The midfielder missed almost the entirety of the 2018/19 campaign due to the knee injury he picked up against Roma in the Champions League semi-final in April last year, which curtailed his largely impressive first season in a red shirt.

Having joined Liverpool from Arsenal after the start of the 2017/18 campaign, and then having spent last summer on the sidelines, Oxlade-Chamberlain will be desperate to impress Jurgen Klopp this summer as the European champions get back down to business following the clinching of their sixth European Cup.

The England midfielder only made two substitute appearances last season, and was an unused substitute in the Champions League final victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid.

Fitness guru Holender has worked with the likes of Tom Cruise, Gerard Butler and Spice Girl Mel B, and he was joined by a couple of Oxlade-Chamberlain's Liverpool teammates as well as a surprise Premier League pair at UCLA in Los Angeles.

Reds pair Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn dropped by to see their teammate in action, while Southampton's Nathan Redmond and Bournemouth's Josh King have also been put through their paces by Holender.

Redmond posted a video on his Instagram Stories of him undergoing drills set by Holender, while he also shared footage of a tired-looking King.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexander-Arnold and Woodburn will all be back in America next month for Liverpool's pre-season programme Stateside.

The Reds face Klopp's former club Borussia Dortmund in Notre Dame on July 19, La Liga side Sevilla in Boston on July 21 and Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon in New York on July 25.
