Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain dedicates Liverpool's Champions League win to Arsenal

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has dedicated Liverpool's Champions League triumph to Arsenal.

Midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain was an unused substitute as the Reds recorded a 2-0 victory over Tottenham - with Mo Salah and Divock Origi bagging the all important goals.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled for game time this season after a cruciate knee injury kept him sidelined until April.

The England ace joined the Reds from Arsenal in a £35million switch two summers ago.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 198 appearances for the Gunners, netting 20 times, having spent six seasons at the Emirates.

And it appears he still has a soft spot for his old club, especially when it comes to facing Tottenham.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was sent a number of messages from Arsenal supporters on social media pleading with him to help stop rivals Spurs from becoming the first north London side to claim the European Cup.

And it appears he was listening. In an interview with former Gunners teammate Per Mertesacker, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: "As former Gooners we know what that meant to all the Arsenal fans out there.

"It was massive for us at Liverpool but once a Gooner, always a Gooner.

"I had a personal feeling in that game that we needed to get it done for all the people I left at Arsenal.

"I know they were all willing us on to win that one. I'm happy that we could do it."

Oxlade-Chamberlain was joined in Madrid by his girlfriend Perrie Edwards.

The Little Mix star joined her beau on the pitch after the match and posed with the Champions League trophy.

Before the match she said: "I’m going to be out in Madrid so if they win it’s going to be party central and I am ready to party.

"I just want Alex to be a part of it, that’s all I care about.

"I can’t even tell you how nervous I am and I don’t even know if he is going to play or not but my anxiety is through the roof. I just want them to win."
