Alex Neil in Scott Sinclair Celtic gaffe over Rangers' status

Preston boss Alex Neil has suffered a Celtic memory blank over new signing Scott Sinclair .

The Scot sealed the capture of the 31-year-old winger on Wednesday and was quick to praise his new signing's abilities.

But his recollection of Sinclair's trophy-laden three-and-a-half-year Celtic stay is hazy as he reckons the Englishman's exploits in Glasgow started when Rangers were still in the Championship.

Neil said: "We tried to obviously get Scott in the summer and unfortunately we didn't get it across the line so we're really pleased that he's now joining us.

"Obviously he was at Celtic and they were by far the dominant team at that stage because obviously Rangers weren't in the league as well.

"Ableit, not trying to belittle any of his achievements by any means."

But Rangers were in the top flight by the time Sinclair sealed his £3million move from Aston Villa and the winger was an integral part of the side that secured the invincible Treble in his first campaign in Glasgow.

Sinclair netted in four games against Rangers in the 2016/17 season and his 25 goals in all competitions landed him multiple Player of the Year awards.

The former Manchester City man penned a two-and-a-half year deal with the Championship promotion hopefuls after his opportunities became limited at Parkhead.
