Alex McLeish points to Ryan Kent 'melting point' as Rangers legend makes Leeds United transfer claim

Treble-winnning former Rangers boss Alex McLeish reckons Ryan Kent could yet move to the Premier League due to the financial power of the world's richest league.

The winger wants to remain at Ibrox for the season ahead - despite Leeds United making a £10m bid for his services - as Steven Gerrard looks to halt Celtic's historic bid for 10 In A Row.

But Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa is a big fan of the fleet-footed forward and has now attempted to secure his signature on three separate occasions.

And McLeish reckons that the cash reserves afforded by a place in the English elite means that Rangers could be forced into a deal if financial muscles are flexed and they are made an offer they can't refuse.

He told Football Insider : "There’s always a price, there’s no doubt about that, there’s always a price and you know the Premier League, it’s all powerful.

“We were talking about everyone being bankrupt after Covid-19 but the prices are still getting bandied about and if the ante goes up, there will obviously be a melting point that Rangers would probably find difficult to refuse.

“Ryan's probably been empowered by the fact that there are teams out there looking at him as well, Leeds United in the Premier League now.

“I think he’s pledged his allegiances to Rangers in the meantime but you saw what he did at Celtic Park last season and if he plays to that level, the expectations will be on him to give that level every single game."
