Alex McLeish out as 90 per cent of fans vote for Scotland manager to be sacked

It had all the hallmarks of a Scotland catastrophe for the ages.

The team which had not won a European qualifier on home soil spanked Alex McLeish's side 3-0, and most of the heavy lifting was done in the first 10 minutes.

Goals from Yuriy Pertsukh and Yan Vorogovskiy had the hosts cruising and the stadium bouncing. Baktiyar Zaynutdinov's goal six minutes after half-time ensured that it was game over.

McLeish had to endure a number of call-offs to his squad ahead of the game but the nature of the defeat was embarrassing for Scotland.

When asked about his future following the match, the former Rangers boss said: "I'll just continue doing my job.

"I always feel low after a (defeat) but I'm pretty good at bouncing back."

Fighting talk, but it really was the worst possible way to start the Euro 2020 campaign and although the Nations League success means that we are guaranteed at least a playoff place, is McLeish the man we want in charge for those matches?

Certainly the fans who have voted in our poll don't believe so, with an overwhelming majority calling for him to be sacked.

Have your say.
