Alex McLeish offers Rangers response to Moussa Dembele's 'real invincibles' dig as former Ibrox boss unsurprised

Alex McLeish has fired back at Moussa Dembele's Rangers dig shortly after winning La Liga - and noticed former Celtic stars are still rattled by the Ibrox side's progress.

The French striker was drinking in his league success at loan club Atletico Madrid when he took to Twitter to show his gratitude to well-wishers from his former club.

He Tweeted: "Thanks for the congrats msg @CelticFC fans. I see you. I’m glad to see you’re happy for me. You are truly grateful & so I am to you. Remember my success is also yours so… WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS."

And then the kicker, in the form of a hashtag: "#RealInviciblesAreUs"

Dembele was one of the main members of Brendan Rodgers' side that cleaned up all three domestic honours without losing a match in 2016-17.

The unbeaten Treble success is held up by Hoops fans as an example of "real" invincibles with the suggestion Rangers' own unbeaten Premiership season can't compare because they were knocked out of the cups by St Mirren and St Johnstone.

Some Ibrox supporters have fired back at that suggestion and now former boss McLeish has fought their corner.

He noticed the little dig at the end and insists it's no surprise.

He told Ibrox News: "They are worldwide famous.

“The Rangers and Celtic factor will always come into the conversation at some point, they are very powerful clubs.

“Well done, Dembele, but you can see they still want to get their little bit in there."
