Alex McLeish has warned Connor Goldson he's taking a huge risk by not signing a new deal at Rangers.
The Ibrox centre back has been an almost ever-present since joining from Brighton in summer 2018 but is out-of-contract at the end of this season.
Talks have been ongoing with him for most of the season but he's yet to pen a new deal and can speak to clubs abut a potential pre-contract now.
He's been linked with his old manager Steven Gerrard as Aston Villa while West Ham have also been linked with a move for him.
But McLeish insists he's taking a huge risk if he doesn't sign on at Ibrox and considers his options instead of making his mind up.
"In the modern day, there is some give and take between the club and player," the former Gers boss told Football Insider.
"But this smacks of Connor trying to look at his options. Maybe there has already been some interest.
"These are things that we know go on in football.
"You can’t really be sure that Goldson is already thinking about something else. Is he taking a risk this way? Maybe.
"But I believe that footballers are always in charge of what their next step is going to be.”
