Alex Jones ‘quite sad’ as eldest son reaches childhood milestone

TV presenter Alex Jones has confessed her eldest son, Teddy, has reached a major childhood moment and the Ammanford native is ‘quite sad’ about it. Alex is on the promotional trail for her brand new show, Reunion Hotel, which brings people with historic connections and backstories together at a north Wales hotel, more on that here.

Appearing on Claudia Winkleman's Radio 2 morning show, on which the fringe-loving Strictly host described her as 'Welsh royalty', Alex confessed that her 'news at 10' - a regular feature on the show - was that the six-year old had lost his first tooth.

Talking about the big moment for Teddy, who was with her at the Radio 2 studios, along with younger son, Kit, The One Show frontwoman said: "Ted, who's with me today, who's six has lost his first tooth." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.

Claudia replied that it was 'quite dramatic' for the little boy, but it seemed to affect Alex, who has three children with husband Charlie Thomson, who added in a mock sad voice: "Actually it made me quite sad because it means oh no he's growing up."

The host reassured Alex that the tooth had to come out to which Alex agreed saying: "It would be odd wouldn't it, going round with mini teeth for the rest of his life."

The pair went off on an unsurprising tangent about losing teeth and Alex said that Teddy had been looking forward to the tooth coming out for a while and a visit from the tooth fairy, who gave the youngster a modest pound for his dental offerings.

"And a note, she said because he'd brushed his teeth really well he could keep the tooth," said the Welsh presenter and made a joke about turning the newly minted tooth into a necklace.

While promoting the show, Alex has been opening up about her marriage to Charlie, saying she was a hopeless cook and how he worked with Gordon Ramsay before they met. Alex said on a podcast ealier this week: "Yeah, so he's not a chef anymore but the love of food is still there," Alex explained. "So this is win-win for us, it's better."
