Alex Hales the first player picked in Caribbean Premier League draft - but he will not miss Nottinghamshire games

Alex Hales was the first player picked in the Caribbean Premier League draft - but Nottinghamshire will not allow him to miss any of their games.

The batsman was chosen by the Barbados Tridents for the T20 franchise tournament, which will take from September 4 to October 12 after the start date was pushed back to avoid West Indies fixtures against India across all three formats.

The opening days of the competition clash with the quarter-finals of the Vitality Blast with finals day on September 22.

Notts will consent to Hales playing in the tournament, however, they will insist he does not miss any Outlaws fixtures.

If scheduling allows, it is possible Hales will be allowed to fly back and forth from the Caribbean, so long as there is enough space between games to adjust to changing time zones.

Notts teammate Harry Gurney was also in Wednesday's draft, although the seamer was not selected at the time of publication.

If he is picked up at any point in the tournament, Notts will adopt the same stance as with Hales. Both men have white ball only contracts with Notts.
