Alex Gogic is just happy to be back playing for Hamilton

Alex Gogic put in a man of the match performance in Hamilton’s 2-1 win over Livingston, and admitted he’s just happy to be out there.

The Cypriot lost an entire year to a knee ligament injury picked up in a win over Partick Thistle in February 2018, but was a stand-out on Saturday as Accies took a deserved three points.

Gogic, 25, said: “It’s great; I’m feeling well, and it’s just amazing to play games, and to be out there, doing what I love.

“It was a good three points. At the end of the day we’ve played well in previous games but if you don’t get anything out of it, it doesn’t really mean anything.

“We all gave a great shift, we knew it was going to be a scrappy game, but we pushed well and it’s great to have the three points.

“I think Hamilton was always about being rough and stuff, and we just proved that we can roll the sleeves up and get stuck in.

“I try my best to help my defenders, to keep their job easy, and I think I tried my best to head the ball as far away as I could from my goal.

“We knew that we had to win the game. It was vital to win it, especially at home.

“We always play well here, and we just have to get results, so the three points is massive.”

Hamilton now move on to a clash against Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday, a side who put Aberdeen to the sword 5-0 at the same venue on Saturday.

Gogic said: “We have to regroup. The gaffer will tell us what he wants us to do, and we’ll do our best again, to try and get something out of it.”
