Alex Ferguson once urged his Manchester United players to listen to Roy Evans losing his cool after another Liverpool Premier League title challenge hit the buffers.
United and the Reds were both challenging for the championship when the teams met at Anfield in April 1997.
Liverpool would have moved top with just three games remaining had they won.
However, a 3-1 triumph for the visitors put Ferguson's side clear at the summit with a demoralised Liverpool ultimately ending up in fourth place and missing out on Champions League qualification.
And Ronny Johnsen, a United centre-back at the time, has explained what happened after the game.
“We came into the changing room and the gaffer came in a little bit late,” said Johnsen, speaking to the UTD podcast.
“We were buzzing and he said: ‘Quiet, quiet!’ The changing rooms in that stadium are very close to each other and you can hear their manager go ballistic and (Ferguson) is like: ‘Listen, you can hear them!’
“I loved it!”
United have fallen down the pecking order since Ferguson departed in 2013, and are currently struggling 38 points behind Liverpool in fifth place.
The Reds are the reigning European and world champions and are within touching distance of a first championship in 30 years.
