Alex Ferguson makes shock Liverpool title prediction with Manchester United playing their part

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson believes Liverpool will beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.

Ex-Stoke City striker Jon Walters has made the claim after speaking with former United defender Phil Bardsley, who spent some time with Ferguson during the week.

Bardsley told Walters that Ferguson thinks United will take points off their neighbours later this month to see the title going to Anfield.

“I was chatting with Phil Bardsley and I’m gonna drop a name here, he was sat with Sir Alex Ferguson,” Walters told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.

Liverpool on transfer alert as Timo Werner makes decision on RB Leipzig future

“He sat with him and he thinks Liverpool are going win it.

"He thinks Liverpool because he thinks United will get something out of the City game.”

Liverpool are currently two points clear of City following their 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday. However, City have a game in hand and a better goal difference.

United entertain City on April 24 aiming for the victory that would bolster their hopes of Champions League qualification.
