Alex Dyer to remain as Kilmarnock boss until end of the season

Kilmarnock have announced Alex Dyer will remain as boss until the end of the season.

The assistant to Angelo Alessio, and formerly Steve Clarke, stepped in on an interim basis earlier in December after the Italian's sacking.

Kilmarnock have suffered an alarming slump in form and Dyer has now been tasked with steadying the ship for the rest of the campaign.

He told the club website: “I care deeply about this fantastic football club and it is a privilege to be named Manager until the end of the season.

“I believe we have a good group of players at the club and with a few additions during the transfer window then I’m convinced we can rejuvenate our season and re-establish the identity the club has built over the past few years.”

Less than 24 hours prior to the decision, and following defeat to St Mirren , he urged the Rugby Park to end the managerial uncertainty.

Killie have slipped out of the Premiership top six with five straight defeats,

Their last victory came against bottom of the table Hearts on November 23, a run of seven without a win.
