Alex Dyer fires Kilmarnock warning as manager discusses 'targets' for the rest of the season

Alex Dyer was pleased to get a Scottish Cup replay but is adamant that Kilmarnock have still to turn the corner.

Killie went up to Aberdeen and got a goal-less draw to earn a Rugby Park replay a week on Wednesday.

The Ayrshire side are now three unbeaten, with two wins and a draw, but Dyer believes they still have some way to go to be where they want to be.

Dyer said: “It’s good to go from the run we were on to unbeaten in three games now, which is giving us a bit of momentum.

“We are trying hard in training and I said from day one we would get back to what we know and what we’re good at.

“We can only get that by being honest with each other and in a good place.

“We have not turned the corner yet, to do that you have to reach the targets we have set ourselves.

“We are not patting each other on the back yet, it’s only three games unbeaten.”

It was even more pleasing for Killie as this latest result came without the injured pair of Chris Burke and Stuart Findlay. Dyer went for three at the back and it worked a treat as it nullified Aberdeen’s threat. He will now look for his team to continue their run at home to Rangers on Wednesday.

The Killie boss added: “It was good, we came here and worked hard.

“We missed Chris Burke and Harry Bunn, so we decided to play three at the back because we have two full backs who like to get forward.

“The wind was strong and the sun was low as well in the first half, so it was difficult conditions.

“We didn’t create a lot but they didn’t trouble us too much and we felt comfortable in the game.”
