Alex Currie tribute: Hearts fans plan Scottish Cup final applause in memory of tragic dad

Hearts supporters will use this weekend's Scottish Cup final to pay tribute to a dad of three who passed away earlier this month.

Alex Currie, a lifelong Jambo, died after suffering a massive stroke at the age of 39.

And fans of the Tynecastle club will honour him with an applause in the 39th minute of Saturday's clash with Celtic.

His 12-year-old son Max will also be there with a special flag made in his dad's honour.

The Daily Record reports that Alex, nicknamed Skippy, worked as an assistant registrar in Edinburgh.

He was also well-known in the city for being a football coach at amateur and youth levels.

He fell ill while watching Max play for his team North Merchiston Blacks on 30 April before passing away two days later.

The tribute has the blessing of Alex's wife Gail (38) son Max and daughters Neve (16) and Hana (11).
