Alex Bruce gets his own back on critics of Newcastle boss with hilarious Trump tweet

Alex Bruce took a subtle swipe at dad Steve's critics after Newcastle bounced back from successive defeats at Crystal Palace.

In a typically fraught build-up to the match at Selhurst Park, the Mirror's Brian Reade had compared Bruce senior to Donald Trump for his apparent refusal to engage with critics of his team's playing style and supposed reinvention of stats surrounding the side.

Bruce was angered by the comparisons and after the game, son Alex had the perfectly prepared response.

He posted a picture of the outgoing president's infamous Dad dancing overlaid with Local Hero and a laughing emoji in a mocking riposte to critics who labelled him the Geordie Trump.

Even his critics had to admit that it was an amusing image but it was the victory which was the even better response to the growing band of black and white detractors.

After two very poor displays, United were better against opponents who had decent chances but failed to show the clinical instincts of Callum Wilson, whose fine finish teed up Newcastle for the win.

Joelinton added a second on a perfect night for the Bruce family - and Alex, who has often stood up for his Dad in the heated atmosphere of social media, took to social media to celebrate.

The younger Bruce retired this week after a long career.
