Alex Beresford returns as host on Good Morning Britain after 'feeling empowered'

Alex Beresford rejoined the GMB hosting team on Friday, after enjoying his first stint a day earlier.

The Good Morning Britain weatherman ditched forecasts for news headlines, as he and Kate Garraway brought viewers Friday's edition of the show.

Kate opened the show by welcoming him back, and praising him for his presenting.

Alex then took the moment to thank fans for their flurry of positive comments about his hosting debut.

He then confessed he felt "empowered" by all the love, encouraging him to give it another go.

Kate asked: "Did that feel good?" as the voiceover said his name, adding: "You came back then?"

Alex replied: "That felt great! I did and I had a good night sleep as well."

It's then that he confessed that having a good sleep and returning to the show had made him feel "empowered".

Alex vowed to have fun on GMB, and viewers loved him being the host (ITV)

Kate replied: "Wow, an empowered Alex. I like it, everybody loved you yesterday."

Alex told her: "You know what, I had so many lovely compliments.

"Thank you to everyone who got in touch, keep them coming!"

Kate had already praised her pal and co-star after his first stint on Thursday evening, as she confirmed her own return after her appearance on that day.

She revealed he would be back in the hotseat with her, ready to bring some fun to the show.

Kate wrote on Instagram : "Absolute please to be there for @alexberesfordtv ‘s first show - he was great don’t you think?

"Let’s do it all again tomorrow - see you at 6 tomorrow for a very busy news show ( we’ll sneak some fun in too , don’t worry!) xxx."

Viewers were loving the pair on the show, hoping they would do it together more often.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
