Could Alex Beresford be following in the dance steps of his Good Morning Britain co-star Susanna Reid in the sequinned world of Strictly Come Dancing?
The Bristol-born GMB weatherman has found himself in the mix for the next series along with GMB’s other meteorologist Laura Tobin for the 2021 series of the BBC ratings hit, it has been reported.
According to the Sun, Alex,40, could be the next ITV face to be partnered up with a dance professional after Ranvir Singh in 2020 and Charlotte Hawkins in 2017.
A source told the publication: “Strictly bosses like having an ITV daytime star as they help with audience figures, being really well-known.
“Viewers wake up to them every day. Laura and Alex are well-liked and would make good signings.
“It is still early in the process but both their names are in the mix.”
Susanna Reid's appearance in Strictly back in 2013 turbo-charged her career and saw her leave the BBC for ITV.
A representative for Strictly Come Dancing has been approached for comment.
Alex has already had a role on a reality talent show after appearing in Dancing on Ice back in 2018 with professional ice-skater Brianne Delcourt, but co-star Laura, 39, has yet to make a similar move.
Last month, Alex was involved in an on-air spat with GMB presenter Piers Morgan, 55, after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The row prompted Piers to walk off and later quit the show.
It is also reported that Alex is exploring future career options in the United States.
