Alex Beresford dubbed 'smooth' by Stephen Mulhern after weather-based banter on ITV's Catchphrase

His time on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? ended with the studio turning red and the sound of a klaxon - cutting his winning run short to the disappointment of viewers.

But Bristol's TV weatherman and presenter Alex Beresford is back on ITV on Saturday night for another long-running quiz show, this time for Catchphrase.

The 41-year-old will be on the prime time show, hosted by Stephen Mulhern, from 7.30pm on ITV.

A clip from the show shows Mulhern, 44, using Beresford's job for an exchange using a host of weather-based words

Mulhern asks: "Now, come on Alex, you are the man in the know, what's the forecast for this evening?"

Beresford replies: "Well, it started off frosty, I can feel it getting mild, but it's going to sizzle later on.

"Or, it could just be a storm in a tea cup."

As applause rings out in the studio, Mulhern says: "Ain't he smooth, eh?. He is!"

Beresford told his followers on twitter on Thursday: "Basically all I do is play game shows right now.

"Last night copped £16,000 on @MillionaireUK, and this coming Saturday I’m having a pop at Catchphrase. Seriously grateful it helps raise money for much needed causes."

Beresford appeared on Millionaire on Wednesday, but although he got to £16,000 and still had lifelines, the programme ended and host Jeremy Clarkson told him that as it was a celebrity special, he would not be able to continue.
