Alex Beresford close to tears as cousin speaks about 'torn' family after brother's murder

Good Morning Britain presenter Alex Beresford was close to tears tonight as he spoke to his cousin about her brother's murder.

The weather reporter's cousin, Nathaniel Armstrong, 29, was stabbed to death last month in a London knife attack.

Just days before, Alex, 38, was praised for speaking out live on air during a GMB debate on knife crime.

In Tonight: Knife Crime And Me, Alex went on a personal investigation into the epidemic and searched for a solution to the problem.

In heartbreaking scenes he also spoke to his cousin Nadine, who said that their family had been torn apart by her brother's murder.

Speaking on the corner of the street where Nathaniel died, she told Alex: "I just feel really devastated. I think Nathaniel being killed is like a part of my identity has gone with it.

"The whole family feels torn."

Asked how her mum and dad were coping, she said: "They're distraught. Words can't really describe it, to be honest.

"He was such a loving person, so caring, so kind and he's gone... so you know."

Alex asked what she was hoping to come out of this awful situation.

"As a family we want justice," she said. "But honestly, I think more needs to be done to prevent this."

The pair then showed an emotional hug afterwards as he thanked her for speaking to him.
