Alesha MacPhail trolls target heartbroken mum Georgina Lochrane for 'attention seeking'

The charity supporting the mother of murdered Alesha MacPhail has hit out after she was targeted by internet trolls.

FAMS (Families and Friends Against Murder and Suicide) said Georgina Lochrane, 24, had been “attacked” online and accused of “attention seeking” in the wake of the first anniversary of the six-year-old’s death on the Isle of Bute last summer.

In a statement on their Facebook page yesterday, titled ‘the many faces of grief’, the charity said: “You only need to look at Georgina’s eyes to see her grief and distress.

“They wont understand her need to ensure that Alesha is remembered for who she was, not what happened to her.

“They don’t see Georgina trying to hold herself together before and after each interview.”

The post led to an outpouring of support for Georgina, who is mum to Courtney, five, from the public.

Angela Williamson said: “This young woman is an inspiration! And the trolls that slate her lead a very sad existence!

“Sending all the love in the world to Georgina and her family.”

Izzy Clark added: “Keep it up Georgina you are helping so many... as for the trolls can’t even find the words for how despicable their behaviour is.”

Alesha MacPhail was raped and murdered after being abducted from her bed at her grandparents’ home by Aaron Campbell, 17, on July 2 last year.

He is appealing his sentence of detention without limit of time, with a minimum of 27 years to be served before he is eligible for parole.

Georgina celebrated Alesha’s life with a memorial fun day raising more than £2,000 for FAMS last weekend.
