Alesha MacPhail tributes paid with smiling selfies as tragic girl remembered on first anniversary of death

Scores of people celebrated the life of today with smiling tributes on the first anniversary of her death.

had asked supporters to “Smile for Alesha” and remember her six-year-old daughter for her bubbly personality
instead of focusing on the devastating events of July 2 last year.

The Record respected Georgina’s wish for the circumstances surrounding her murder on Bute last summer to be blanked out for the day and instead shared happy pictures from a fun day we attended in the youngster’s memory in Coatbridge last Saturday.

Hundreds of others followed suit and social media was full of smiling selfies bearing the hashtag and positive tributes.

Georgina, 24, who is also mum to Courtney, five, shared grinning photos of her daughters and a touching message to Alesha on Facebook.

She said: “I loved our long walks to school in the morning and how you would come out with the most bizarre question.

“Or when we were at the park and you climbed up to the top of the climbing frame and mummy was freaking out.

“You found it absolutely hilarious and continued to prove to me you were grown up and you could
do it.

“I love you with every little inch of my body, my princess, and I promise you one day your name will be shining in lights just like you always dreamed of.

“Mummy will make all your dreams come true and will also follow on your love and care and affection for others in your name.

“I will build your legacy and make you so proud.”
