Alesha MacPhai l's uncle has called for a change in the law that would see 16-year-old offenders who commit serious crimes handed an adult sentence.
CJ MacPhail has created a petition calling on the Scottish Government to stop protecting teenage killers from harsh punishment after Alesha MacPhail's killer Aaron Campbell was handed a juvenile sentence for her rape and murder.

The online petition, which has gathered more than 3,000 signatures, argues that Campbell was given a lesser punishment because his is "still considered a child in the eyes of the court".

In a video on Facebook, CJ, who is Robert MacPhail's brother, said: "As of today I am going to be setting up a petition to the Scottish Government in relation to anyone who is over the age of 16 whom commits serious crimes, such as murder and rape.
"They shouldn't be tried as children because if you can get married at 16 or join the army at 16, then I'm a strong believer you are an adult when you're responsible for making your decisions at that point in time.
"I would like everyone one to sign it if possible."

In the 10 minute clip, which has been viewed more than 18,000 times, CJ also asked for people to like, comment and share a video of Alesha's killer confesses to murder and is jailed for minimum of 27 years as she had ambitions to become a star on the video site one day.

He added: "She enjoyed making people laugh. She was a very intelligent girl and was everyone's best friend.
"No one she ever met did she like to see sad."
