Alesha MacPhail's heartbroken mum reveals 'There are days I don't want to be here' in TV appearance

The devastated mother of tragic Alesha MacPhail has made her first TV appearance since her daughter's death.

In her first broadcast interview, Mum of tragic Alesha MacPhail raises hundreds of pounds completing Kiltwalk, 24, appeared on STV News at Six to open up on how she has been coping since Alesha's murder on the Isle of Bute last year.

She spoke about the support she has received from the charity FAMS (Families against murder and suicide) and how she wants to channel her pain into helping others with their loss.

Georgina said: "When I found FAMS they helped me with Alesha and are helping me with my mental state as well."

Now the Coatbridge mum wants to help raise funds for FAMS' first building in Motherwell, as well as undertake training so that she can help support other bereaved families.

Georgina also spoke candidly on how there are days she doesn't 'want to be here', but that her youngest daughter Courtney keeps her going.

She said: "If I didn't have Courtney I would just want to crumble and be with Alesha right now.

"But I still have her. She is my fight. I have to fight for her, and when she is older I have to tell her what happened."

The young mum also told of the heartbreaking moment that the two sisters last spoke to each other.

"Alesha told Courtney 'you're my best sister' and Courtney said 'you're mine'.

"They told each other they loved each other.

"Courtney doesn't realise that's the last time she saw Alesha."

Alesha's mum "not surprised" twisted killer has appealed prison sentence

Alesha was murdered by evil Aaron Campbell, 16, on the Isle of Bute last July when she was visiting her dad Robert and grandparents.

Campbell abducted her in the middle of the night before going on to rape and murder her in the grounds of an abandoned hotel.

After pleading not guilty throughout his trial and blaming Toni McLachlan, the innocent girlfriend of Alesha’s dad, he confessed shortly after the jury’s unanimous guilty verdict.

He was sentenced to serve a minimum 27 years in prison, which he has recently appealed.
