Alesha MacPhail playhouse unveiled in memory of tragic schoolgirl killed on Isle of Bute

Pupils at Alesha MacPhail’s school have helped to unveil a new playhouse built in her memory.

The six-year-old, who was murdered while on holiday on the Isle of Bute last July, attended Chapelside Primary School in Airdrie.

The playhouse in her honour is the main feature of a redeveloped playground area which was built after more than £22,000 was raised by the school’s parent council through a JustGiving page.

Today, a special assembly will be held to remember the schoolgirl, with a poem called “Alesha’s Smile” being read out.

Headteacher Wendy Davie said: “The playhouse is going to be the heartbeat of our playground.”
