Alert after sewage detects and Costco contacts hit 400

Hunter New England Health has urged people to stay vigilant and monitor for symptoms after positive sewage detects in various Hunter locations.

The health district said overnight there were positive detects a treatment plants in Shortland, Raymond Terrace, Farley, Edgeworth, Burwood Beach, Morpeth and Dora Creek.

"While there are known cases within these catchment areas that could be shedding the virus, we encourage everyone to stay vigilant and monitor for symptoms," a statement from the health service said.

The number of contacts identified from the positive case at Costco Boolaroo has also been expanded to 400, with contact tracing efforts ongoing.

"All close contacts are being contacted by Hunter New England Health and directed to get tested and isolate for 14 days regardless of the result," Hunter New England Health said.
