Alec Baldwin to resume Rust filming with tragic Halyna Hutchins' husband as producer

Filming for Rust, starring Alec Baldwin will resume in January 2023 it has been announced.

It comes after a deal was agreed with Halyna Hutchins' husband who will sit as an executive producer on the movie.

Halyna died after being shot on the set of the movie back in October 2021.

Following the tragic incident, Alec has always stressed that he did not pull the trigger on the gun which was being used as a prop.

He instead claims that the stunt handlers and prop managers working on the movie should have ensured that the weapon was "cold".

Last month, Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said she was "ready" to file charges against four people and was "certainly looking all the homicide statutes" under New Mexico criminal law.

However, Santa Fe Sherrif's Office is yet to charge anybody for Hutchins' death.

Following the deal, Halyna's husband Matthew said: "We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC.

"As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed.

"The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023.

"I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). All of us believe Halyna's death was a terrible accident.

"I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna's final work."

Through their lawyer, Melina Spadone, Rust Movie Productions LLC said: "We are pleased the parties came together to resolve this matter, which, subject to court approval, marks an important step forward in celebrating Halyna's life and honouring her work."

Meanwhile, the director, Joel Souza stated that it was "bittersweet" to be working on the film following Hutchins' death.

He said: "My every effort on this film will be devoted to honouring Halyna's legacy and making her proud. It is a privilege to see this through on her behalf."

Despite feeling bittersweet about the decision to go ahead, he expressed how he wished he and Halyna had worked together under different circumstances but believes that the decision to go ahead will assist the healing process.
