Alec Baldwin has quit Twitter after being ridiculed by fans for joking about Gillian Anderson 'switching accents' just weeks after his wife Hilaria was accused of faking her Spanish heritage.
The 62-year-old actor released a 10-minute video after pulling the plug on his social media profile again, as he blamed 'a**holes' for making him quit.
The row kicked off when Alec first tweeted a link to a CNN article about The Crown's Gillian where he wrote: "Switching accents ? That sounds...fascinating."
His wife Hilaria was recently accused of faking a Spanish accent when she was born and raised in Boston.

Gilian picked up a Golden Globe on Sunday night for her portrayal of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher in the Netflix drama.
The actress, who typically speaks in an English accent, raised eyebrows by adopting an American twang during her acceptance speech.
Many fans took to Twitter to comment on the observation with many admitting they did not realise she was born in Chicago.
Gillian was raised in London but returned to the States at the age of 11.

When 30 Rock star Alec joined those commenting on Gillian's change in voice, many viewers expressed their annoyance.
"This is no way comparable to your wife pretending to be from Spain," one user wrote.
Another said "[Hilaria] pretending to have a foreign accent in order to lay claim to a culture and life story that isn't hers just to exoticize herself is NOT the same thing as Gillian Anderson reasonably speaking two different dialects of English due to her (actual) life story."
A third raged: "Not the same as a white women raised primarily in the US claiming to be a person of color. But your dedication to your wife is noted.
After being on the receiving end of some criticism, Alec then shared a ten-minute long Instagram video detailing why he was quitting Twitter.

He said that Twitter 'is where all the a**holes in the United States and beyond go to get their advanced degrees in a**holiness.'
"The problem with Twitter is, Twitter is a lot of haters," he added.
Alec also said he was a big fan of Gillian's before thanking those people who had turned out to support him.
The actor and his wife Hilaria recently welcomed their sixth child via surrogate.
Baby girl Lucia arrived six months after the birth of their son Eduardo.
