Aldrick Robinson could be sneaky productive for the Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are continuing to rebuild their wide receiver corps. To recap, they have ditched Devin Funchess, drafted Terry Godwin and signed Chris Hogan. On Friday, the Panthers also added journeyman wide receiver Aldrick Robinson. Robinson likely won’t get too many looks from Cam Newton, but Carolina may get some efficient production from him nonetheless.

According to Pro Football Focus, 61 of Robinson’s 86 catches have moved the chains or scored a touchdown and he’s averaged 16.5 yards per reception in his career.

That comes out to almost 71 percent of Robinson’s catches either going for a first down or finding the end zone.

On the other hand, Robinson has never caught more than 20 passes in a season. However, he isn’t expected to come in and catch 75 passes or be a leader for this offense. It will be hard for him to continue the touchdown rate he had last year in Minnesota, but if he at least moves the chains effectively, then this will be a quality signing.
