We likely don’t need to tell you that the UK is seeing some of the hottest June temperatures on record. When the temperature exceeds 35 degrees, we’re no longer thinking about cute days at the park and barbecues with the family – we’re thinking about how we can get cool, fast.
That’s likely why Aldi has just launched its cooling range, offering budget options for those looking to lower the temperature at home.
Fewer than 5 per cent of UK homes have air conditioning built in, but Aldi is offering this portable air cooler with LED for just £14.99 (Aldi.co.uk). A selection of summer duvets are also a part of the range, because 12-tog absolutely won’t cut it in this heat, as well as some affordable fans.
You can shop the range in Aldi stores from Thursday 2 July, but if you need relief faster, our shopping editor has recommended a “powerful” portable fan for under £100. Keep reading to find out where to shop.
Aldi globe fan: £39.99, Aldi.co.uk
This heatwave has taught many of us that our home cooling systems are simply not good enough. If you’re looking to replace your old fan ahead of the next heatwave – without spending a fortune – this one is available in Aldi stores from Thursday 2 July. It comes with a timer, 10 speed settings and a remote control, so you can switch it on without needing to get out of bed. Aldi doesn’t offer online shopping, so you’ll need to head to the store's middle aisles for this one.
MeacoFan sefte 6” portable battery air circulator: £69.99, Meaco.com
If you’ve got more to spend on a desk fan, and you need one as soon as possible, this Meaco one “rivals Dyson” for a fraction of the price, according to shopping editor Daisy Lester. “This compact,super-quiet fan is packed with smart, user-friendly features – think powerful fan speeds, rotation, and a night mode,” she said in her review. While it won’t keep your entire household cool, it could see you through these sweaty work-from-home days and restless nights.
