A downhearted nan was left in tears when an Aldi shop worker offered to help pay for her Christmas shopping.
Carole Parker, 63, was visibly upset when she entered the Aldi store on Christmas Eve in Wirral, Merseyside.
The grandmother had lost out on £500 from her Christmas getaway to Wales which was cancelled due to Covid restrictions, Liverpool Echo reports.
She and her husband Stephen had booked a one-week holiday for Carole's birthday at a static caravan in North Wales.
But two hours after they arrived on December 19, it was announced that Wales would go into lockdown from midnight due to soaring Covid cases, instead of December 28 as originally planned.

It meant the couple had to turn around and return straight home to Woodchurch near Birkenhead, Merseyside.
To make matters worse, the caravan owner refused to refund the £500 they had already paid.
When Carole went shopping at her local Aldi some days later, she burst into tears and was comforted by staff.
The shopper, who has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, was gobsmacked when the worker offered to pay for her shopping to cheer her up.
She said: "When I went into Aldi tonight to get bits, I just burst out crying as I was so upset.
"One of the workers who was filling the shelves could see I was upset and asked if I was okay? I told her what happened.
"When I got to the till, I was told the young lady who works there had paid for part of my shopping.
"It wasn't because I had no money and I didn't ask her to. She just wanted to cheer me up.
"I was gobsmacked. What a lovely person she was and a credit to her family to do something like this to help me out."
Carole was initially hopeful she would be able to claw back all or some of the money.
But she later found out there was a clause in the agreement which meant this was not possible.
She added: "Me and my husband have had a tough year, so we decided to go away for my birthday on December 19 and for Christmas.
"Two hours after we arrived, there was a lockdown in Wales so we all had to leave.
"The owner said we would get no refund of the £500 because she'd lost business as people hadn't been able to come away."
