Aldi wins Festive Retailer of the Year award for its own-brand selection

Aldi has been named Festive Retailer of the Year, beating the likes of Waitrose, Co-op and Tesco.

The supermarket swept up a whopping 83 wins at this year’s Grocer Own Label Awards, including overall category wins across Dairy, Food-to-Go, Special Diet and Ready Meals.

Aldi secured a further 47 wins across eight festive categories, including 15 wins within Festive Meat & Fish.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, said: “We’re delighted to have received so much recognition at this year’s Grocer Own Label Awards and are thrilled to be named Festive Retailer of the Year.

"At Aldi, we’re committed to ensuring quality, premium products are accessible to all and won’t break the bank, and these latest wins are a real testament to this.”

The news comes after Aldi was named the UK’s lowest-priced supermarket by The Grocer in its independent price comparison survey.

The budget supermarket unveiled its Christmas food range for 2021 back in September.

This year shoppers will be able to get their hands on Espresso Martini cheese, and a tear and share cheeseboard, amongst other delectable party foods.

Sweet-toothed fans can tuck into delights such as Honeycomb Chocolate Cracker Cake, made with Belgian chocolate sponge and a hidden golden honeycomb centre.

As well as Christmas tree-shaped desserts, in Black Forest and raspberry and white chocolate flavours.
