Aldi urgently recalls two chicken products over salmonella fears

Aldi is urgently recalling some of its chicken products because they may contain salmonella.

The supermarket is pulling its Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken and Roosters Breaded Poppin' Chicken products.

It posted a statement, warning customers who have bought the items, via the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website.

Aldi is vowing to provide full refunds to anybody who bought either of the products, Birmingham Live reports.

The recall notice reads: "Aldi is extending its recall of Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken and Roosters Breaded Poppin' Chicken to include all batches and all best before dates, because the products may contain salmonella."

Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

The products come in a pack size of 210g.

Aldi said: "We are recalling these products due to the possible presence of salmonella.

"Customers are advised not to eat this product and return it to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.

"We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation."
