Aldi updates rules for all shoppers after Government Covid announcement

Aldi has announced that it is changing its rules for all shoppers from Tuesday this week after the Government brought in new regulations.

From Tuesday, November 30, all Aldi customers will be required to wear a mask when visiting stores across the UK unless they are medically exempt.

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer at Aldi UK said: “The safety of our colleagues and customers is our number one priority.

"Following the latest Government announcement, wearing a face covering will be mandatory for everyone that shops at Aldi from Tuesday 30 November, except for those who have a medical exemption.”

Masks also remain compulsory in Aldi’s Scottish and Welsh stores, as well as for all Aldi colleagues.

Other measures such as hand sanitiser and screens will also stay in place.

On Saturday Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that masks must be worn in all shops and on public transport by law.

The move comes after a dangerous new strain of Covid - called Omicron - was detected.

On Sunday England s Health secretary Sajid Javid said the rules will come into force on Tuesday.

MPs will then get a chance to vote on them.
