Aldi has announced it's on the lookout for 20 new store locations in Scotland and six of them are here in Glasgow.
The supermarket, which is the fourth largest volume retailer in Scotland, has been looking to expand in recent years and it's set to open it's 100th store in Scotland.
The fifth largest retailer in the UK now opens, on average, around one store a week in order to meet new customer demand.
The areas in Scotland where it's now looking for sites include Stepps, Maryhill and Clarkston.
Aldi, which has 96 stores in Scotland and more than 900 across the UK, are looking for freehold town-centre or edge-of-centre sites suitable for development.
It says each site should be around 1.5 acres and able to accommodate a 20,000 sq ft store with around 100 parking spaces, ideally on a prominent main road and with good visibility and access.
In April 2020 of last year, Aldi invested over £22 million in new chill facilities for its Scottish Buying Department to help support the growth of its Scottish product range.
Ciaran Aldridge, National Property Director at Aldi UK, said: “We have been investing in Britain for more than 30 years now, but we know that there are still areas that either do not have an Aldi at all, or that need another store to meet customer demand.
“Shoppers are increasingly looking to get unbeatable prices on their weekly shop without compromising on quality. That’s why, more so than ever, we’re keen to explore all opportunities to open new stores across the country.”
